Frequently Asked Questions:
I signed up for a free trial class but I don't have a Gi
It’s completely fine to wear normal workout clothes for your free trial class. We train barefoot so slip on shoes are recommended for going on and off the mat
Do you sell gear?
We have Gis and rashguards for sale in the studio.
I want to try, but I'm not in shape or flexible
That’s completely fine! Movement is what gets you in shape, so we encourage you to just show up and take this first step. BJJ is a full body workout with cardio mixed in. We will never pressure you to push yourself beyond your comfortable limits.
I’m looking to compete in competitions, is this the gym for me?
Yes! We are beginner friendly, but we are registered with IBJJF and will help you train and prepare for tournaments. We are also involved with local tournaments and would love to support you.
I’m looking for self defense, is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for me?
Yes! BJJ is not just useful on the mat in a control setting, but in real life. Besides learning how to take down, control, and break an opponent or attacker, you will also learn more about yourself—building mental fortitude and emotional resilience.
Is BJJ good for beginners?
Yes, it’s good for beginners which is why we have the BJJ Fundamentals class so you can learn step by step and build that foundation.
How often should I train?
Most people train on average 3 times a week, which is our best recommendation to get in the repetition and good practice.
What gear will I need?
Gis for gi class, and normal workout clothes for no-gi class. We do recommend rashguards, mouth guards, and a cup as well.
